Dr. Andreas U. Schmidt

After studying mathematics and physics and graduating in mathematics in 1994 at the University Frankfurt, Germany, Andreas U. Schmidt received his doctorate in mathematics (cum laude) with a dissertation in the field of mathematical physics in 1999. Changing his field of research he worked as a PostDoc in 1999/2000 at the GMD Institute SIT in Darmstadt, Germany (now Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology SIT), focusing on the problem of ambiguous presentations of digitally signed data, and XML signatures. He received a 2-year research grant from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft for research in mathematical physics, and stayed in Durban, South Africa in 2000/01, and in Pisa, Italy, in 2001/02. After his return to Fraunhofer SIT he worked as senior researcher on various subjects in applied IT Security. 2008/09 Andreas was Head of the Secuirty area of the CREAT-NET research centre in Trento, Italy. Together with Jerry Artishdad he now leads Novalyst IT AG.

Jerry J. Artishdad

After finishing his studies in communications engineering in England, Jerry J. Artishdad became a development engineer with Saba in 1976 and lead the further advancement of the VCR system Video 2000.Two years later he met a new challenge in the area of development of Laser Memory Products for the Pioneer Electronics Corporation. Apart from CD-ROM technology, his main tasks were engineering of Long-term-archiving products using laser technology (MO/WORM). They are applied in various sectors such as medical technology. Since 1995, Jerry J. Artishdad is executive director of the business continuity specialists ARTEC IT Solutions. As hard- and software engineer he is a lead contributor to the design of IT-security products. Together with Dr. Andreas U. Schmidt he now leads Novalyst IT AG.
